This charming café, located at 2 Sakamotocho, captures the essence of the region’s rich coffee heritage while enveloping visitors in a nostalgic atmosphere reminiscent of the Taisho era. It’s more than just a café; it’s a warm embrace where music and coffee dance in harmony.

The highlight of your visit will undoubtedly be the unique coffee experience. As noted by local coffee enthusiasts, the café offers a fascinating brewing method where coffee is steeped in a hemp bag right before your eyes. This traditional technique lets you control the strength of your brew, and with each swirl of the bag, you’re not just making coffee—you’re engaging with a rich tradition that traces back to the samurai of the Tsugaru domain in the 1850s. The aroma fills the air as you await the perfect cup, and the anticipation is part of the delightful journey.

But it’s not just about the coffee! Music & Coffee Himawari offers a tempting selection of desserts and sweets that are both reasonably priced and delicious. Customers rave about the ice cream, perfectly creamy and crafted to complement their aromatic coffees. One visitor even remarked on the inviting decor and comfortable atmosphere, making it an ideal spot to unwind after a bustling day exploring Hirosaki.

The café is also praised for its welcoming owner, affectionately known as the "mama san," who adds a touch of humor and warmth to the experience. Patrons often leave with smiles on their faces, eager to return to this precious little sanctuary. As one reviewer nostalgically mentioned, this is a place brimming with cherished memories—it holds a special significance for couples and friends alike, making it a beloved stop for both locals and travelers.

If you’re seeking a quiet nook to escape the rain or a place to relax after a day of sightseeing, look no further than Music & Coffee Himawari. Here, the fusion of delightful flavors, melodious tunes, and friendly service creates a memorable experience—a true gem in the heart of Hirosaki that will have you lingering long after your last sip. I came here to try the local style coffee after an afternoon in Hirosaki. They will bring you a pot with coffee steeping in a hemp bag. You should swirl the bag in the pot until the coffee reaches your desired strength. You can pour some out and test the strength periodically. It’s an interesting experience! Apparently, in around 1855, samurai of the Tsugaru domain began drinking coffee in this style to protect against illnesses brought on by the harsh climate (beans were imported by the Dutch of course!). The shop itself is very cute and is said to maintain its Showa atmosphere (it was founded in the 1950s). The proprietor is a slightly gruff but very friendly older woman. While there are other shops in town that offer the same style of coffee, I recommend this one for its retro flare and local style.

Classic local cafe. They have "Hanshi no coffee" on menu, that is replicate way of how Samurai used to drip and drink coffee back in Samura era. I like their apple cheese cake and apple pie
